We made puppets and put on some fairy tale puppet shows for Junior Infants. Look at those lovely porridge smells coming from Goldilock’s cottage!
Ms Ryan, our teacher from last year, popped in to say hello and to hear all our news.
Ms Loane brought her new baby girl Maia in to see us. We gave her lovely cards we had made.
Thank you to the 5th class ‘Reading Buddies’ who did a fantastic job of helping the Senior Infants to practise their reading since the October Half-Term.
3rd Class set up their own Crazy Golf course and took turns to putt the ball through each groups obstacles. A few boys and girls got a ‘hole in one’. Watch out Rory McIlroy.
3rd Class were invited to Ballyroan Library to take part in some Harry Potter themed science experiments. Great fun was had making slime and learning about what causes lightning.
3rd and 4th had to put their heads together to work out some S.T.E.M (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) challenges. Each group were given 10 cups, cotton wool, string, some straws and a lego figure. They had to work out the best way to stack the cups into a pyramid shape with the lego figure on top, without their hands touching the cups and the lego figure.
They also took part in some team games out in the yard.
Junior Infants have loved the story, ‘The Giant Jam Sandwich’. It is the tale of a town called Itching Down that gets invaded by a swarm of 4 million wasps! The villagers work together to make a giant jam sandwich to trap the wasps- what a great idea. We sequenced the story and wrote about what happened at the beginning, middle and end. We tasted 3 different flavours of jam and ranked them in order of our favourite. The best part of all was when we made jam sandwiches, spreading and cutting them ourselves. Our classroom was pretty sticky when we were done, but it was worth it.
Some pictures of 3rd Class on the Sponsored Walk. Great fun was had by all and the children put a huge effort into their costumes.
