Caterpillar Update

This week in 5th class we have transferred Sheldon, Biscuit, Prof.
Gingernut and Monchichi into the butterfly net. Monchichi was the first
caterpillar to go into a chrysalis then it was Biscuit then Prof.Gingernut and
last but not least Sheldon. They are now all in their own chrysalis. Today
Prof.Gingernut started shaking rapidly which is a caterpillars technique to
scare off any predators. The majority of the class think that Monchichi will
hatch first. Nobody thinks that Biscuit or Sheldon will hatch first and one
person thinks that Prof.Gingernut will be the first to hatch. The type of
butterfly they will become is a Pink Lady. In about one to two weeks time
they will hatch into butterflies.

Nessa D’Arcy, a creative entomologist, visited the school last week. 5th class enjoyed a fascinating talk about insects followed by a trip to a local field where they were amazed at the variety and abundance of little creatures to be found.
